DeTrafford puts Salford site up for sale

The developer’s Wavelength site at Salford Quays, which has permission for 421 homes, is being marketed by Colliers.

DeTrafford won planning permission in December 2019 to demolish the existing three-storey office building on the 1.2-acre site and deliver 421 one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments.

Ollier Smurthwaite is the architect behind the 26-storey development.

Colliers is “inviting offers from developers that can demonstrate an exemplary track record of acquiring and delivering high-quality development on similar opportunities,” a statement from the consultancy said.

“Wavelength offers an exciting opportunity for a developer to create a new development within an area that has experienced extensive redevelopment over the past few years,” said James Strong, senior surveyor of residential development at Colliers.

“Colliers is seeking a developer who really wants to be part of the Quay’s future, helping to celebrate communities and the history of the locality.”

Gary Jackson, founder and chief executive officer at DeTrafford, added: ‘This is a unique opportunity for a developer to acquire a successful waterside development opportunity with similar layouts and cost-effective facilities to our Manchester City centre schemes where we are concentrating.”

Great to see some movement on this and maybe this will see some movement on the other sites they have. So important to see delivery rather than blight. Well done on getting it to market.
