Academy Geomatics opens Warrington base
Headquartered in Gateshead, the consultancy said the move will allow it to better support long-standing clients across the North West.
The new operational base will be headed up by area manager Matt Elson, who brings more than 35 years of industry experience. Much of his career has been spent in management roles, overseeing delivery for major clients, the firm said.
Academy Geomatics’ North West team will work from Craven Court at Winwick Quay, with the office opening at the start of this week.
Although the geospatial surveying specialist firm has worked regularly throughout the region for many years, growing demand from both existing and prospective clients made establishing a permanent North West presence the natural next step,
Academy Geomatics said that the new site will provide the full range of its surveying services, with particular emphasis on underground utility mapping, measured building surveys and topographical surveys.
Initially, there will be six people based in Warrington, with plans to grow the team to around 20 over the first two years. Longer term, the business plans to move to larger premises within Warrington, with capacity for 50–60 staff as the business develops.
Director Anthony Lawton said: “Opening this new office shows just how much the business has grown in recent years. We already carry out a great deal of work across the North West, so having a permanent base here is the next logical step that allows us to be closer to our clients and the projects we’re delivering.”

Academy Geomatics has strong relationships with a number of North West clients, including Ipsum, United Infrastructure, and Knowles & Co.
Opening in Warrington will, the firm said, help it strengthen those relationships and provide a local surveying service to more businesses across the region.
The firm said: “As the office grows, we want to recruit locally, create opportunities for people to develop a career in surveying and build relationships with local suppliers. Our ambition is to establish a lasting presence in the North West, contributing to the local economy as well as supporting its infrastructure and development projects.”
