Deloitte picks 100 Embankment for new office

The multidisciplinary practice will take around 43,000 sq ft at the Salford building, signing a 10-year lease.

Deloitte will relocate to 100 Embankment from the Hanover Building at NOMA, where it moved after leaving its 67,000 sq ft base at Spinningfields in 2020.

It is understood Deloitte had been weighing up various options around Manchester including Baring’s Landmark and M&G’s the Lincoln.

Deloitte will join flexible operator X+Why in the building. X+Why signed for 28,600 sq ft within the building earlier this year.

Place North West reported earlier this year that Aecom was also in talks over space at Embankment.

Embankment’s BREEAM Excellent rating was a selling point for the company. The new office also comes with a dedicated entrance and a roof terrace.

“We want to substantially grow our practice in the North West and Embankment is the perfect place for us to set down roots as we further commit to Manchester and the wider region,” said Andy Westbrook, practice senior partner for Deloitte in the North West.

“Our headcount has grown by more than 150 people in the last year alone and we have plans to recruit a further 750 people over the next three years.

“This new space also aligns with our commitments to sustainability, wellbeing and digital connectivity,” Westbrook continued.

Salford City Mayor, Paul Dennett, said Deloitte choosing Embankment for its offices was “great news”.

“They are coming to Salford at a very exciting time, with our strong strategic vision for the city’s future, built on growth and opportunity,” Dennett said.

“Deloitte’s people can look forward to Grade A office space, complemented by stunning views across the River Irwell, Manchester Cathedral and city centre,” he continued. “It offers easy access to key transport links such as the Exchange Square tram stop and Victoria station, as well as a host of retail and convenience, accommodation and eateries just a short walking distance away.”

I bet they got a great deal, and paid far less than the supposed £35 a Mcr sq ft touted by the market primers.
