Custom House office-to-resi plans in

Bruntwood has submitted an application to Salford City Council for the change of use of a 43,000 sq ft office in Salford Quays into 60 apartments.

Custom House is next to Furness House on the waterfront in Furness Quay, and provides offices across two interconnected blocks. If the residential conversion is approved, the block will be known as Custom Quay and will deliver 32 two-bedroom apartments, 20 one-bedroom flats and 16 studios.

The apartments are being marketed on Rightmove as buy-to-let investments. Prices start at around £145,000 with a 6.5% yield expected.

Custom House was formerly the offices of HM Revenue & Customs.

A planning application has also been submitted for works to the façade of the building.

Subject to planning approval, project completion is expected in early 2016.

Factory Estates submitted the application on behalf of Bruntwood.
