CLLP partners seek to convince government
Work to update areas of the draft Central Lancashire Local Plan highlighted by planning inspectors as potentially unsound will be carried out by mid-June, the constituent councils – Preston, Chorley and South Ribble – have said.
An update has been posted on the Central Lancs Local Plan website, outlining what the local authorities intend to do to address shortcomings identified at examination earlier this year.
Four main areas of concern were highlighted by inspectors Anne Jordan and Alison Partington, and communicated to the councils on 4 March. At present the plan is unsound, they said, unless “substantial” work introducing new evidence is done in four crucial areas.
These are the housing supply in Chorley and South Ribble; supply of employment land in Chorley and South Ribble; lack of detail in planning for longer-term needs; and inadequate viability assumptions and education infrastructure provision in Chorley.
The information posted to the CLPP site is a chart outlining the list of tasks that the CLLP team has set out, and the expected completion date for each task. It is more detailed that simply addressing the four broad points above, with tasks set out under 13 section headings.
Beyond that, there is little detail to report at this stage other than save for “quick win” administrative tasks such as changing the wording on policies to make their purpose clearer, the target date for almost all the tasks is early to mid-June.
