Chorley housing and health park approved

A 25-acre mixed-use development in Euxton Lane, Chorley, including a 50,000 sq ft digital health park, has been granted outline planning consent.

The plot known as Strawberry Fields, opposite the Chorley & South Ribble Hospital, until recently was used for animal grazing.

The scheme is being brought forward through a joint venture between Ascalon Properties and Seddon Developments.

The development includes 125 houses, a care home, a local retail unit and pub. The digital health park will include a mix of units with a target of around 700 employees.

The project will also create new access onto Euxton Lane.

Ken Whitaker, director of Ascalon Properties, said: “It’s good news that this important site has gained outline consent, which was the next step in bringing forward development and investment to create jobs and new homes for Chorley. With the outline planning consent in place, we can now start to work with occupiers and end-users to evolve specific plans for each of the sections of the site. We’re looking forward to working on those detailed plans over the coming months and then beginning work on site.”

P4Planning advised on planning strategy, the masterplan was produced by 5Plus Architects, and Curtins was the highways consultant.

Public engagement and consultation was handled by Social Communications.
