British Land head of retail quits

British Land, owner of several shopping parks in the North West, today said its head of retail, Andrew Jones, is to leave the business.

Jones joined British Land in 2005 through its acquisition of Pillar Property. British Land has assets valued at £8.2bn and is arguably best known for the Meadowhall shopping centre in Sheffield. The company said it was in talks with Jones about the timing of his departure. It is not yet known what venture he is leaving to pursue.

In the North West, Hercules Unit Trust, a fund controlled by British Land, owns Broughton Shopping Park in Chester, Deepdale Shopping Park, Preston and New Mersey Shopping Park, Speke.
