Ballroom glitz uncovered as Caro starts at Parker Street

Work is due to begin on the residential conversion of the former Reece’s Ballroom in Liverpool, a venue made famous as the location of John Lennon’s first marriage in 1962.

Liverpool-based Caro Developments is to refurbish the neo-classical building to create 91 studio and one-bedroom apartments. No changes will be made to the façade.

The contractor for the scheme is Nobles Construction and the architect Falconer Chester Hall.

Along with the building’s features being revealed as site preparation was undertaken, the clearance project uncovered a host of insights into the building’s history, including tickets, dance cards and posters.

Lee Darwen, operations director at Caro, said: “It was so exciting for us to see what was left of the former ballroom and we felt it was very important to share the photographs as a piece of Liverpool’s history.

“We are excited to begin transforming the site and bringing back to life another one of the city’s great buildings.”
