Anglo Irish Bank expands Merseyside team

Anglo Irish Bank has appointed another manager to its senior team In Liverpool in response to the lender's growing exposure to the Merseyside property market.

Alan Bowers joins as a senior lending manager, following 24 years with Yorkshire Bank, the last four spent in Liverpool.

Bowers joins John Morris and Martin Murphy, senior manager and head of the Liverpool office, based in The Plaza on Old Hall Street. Murphy added: "We're confident that by the end of the year we will be in a position to add further members to the team and we look forward to working closely with the key players in the market at a local, regional and national level."

Anglo has been active in Liverpool over the last 10 years and has funded a number of significant schemes including, amongst others, UK Land & Property and Pochin's acquisition of Horton House and Walker House at Exchange Flags; Rumford Investment's Unity development, Villagate's development of Temple Square and Beetham's West Tower.

Other deals backed by the team include the acquisition of Moor House, James Street for Property Regeneration Commercial ahead of redevelopment; site acquisitions for Vermont Developments, for Darby Macy's residential schemes and the strategic refinancing of a number of retail assets of Futurist Developments on Lime Street in one of the city's next key redevelopment areas.
