Amazon close to Omega warehouse letting
The e-commerce giant is understood to have exchanged contracts to take a 357,000 sq ft warehouse within Omega South in Warrington, from LondonMetric Property.
In an announcement to the stock market this morning, LondonMetric said it had conditionally agreed a 15-year lease with “a major international retailer”. The deal is expected to become unconditional in January 2017.
The shed sits within zone 7 of Omega, the vast industrial development site being brought forward by a joint venture between Miller Developments and KUC Properties, in partnership with landowner the Homes & Communities Agency.
A year ago, LondonMetric came on board as the £30m funder for the construction of the 357,000 sq ft logistics warehouse. The project completed earlier this month.
The agreement followed LondonMetric’s £47.5m funding of The Hut Group’s 690,000 sq ft warehouse, also on Omega South, in 2014.
When contacted for a comment, a spokesman for Amazon said “we do not comment on rumours and speculation”.
LondonMetric was advised by DTRE and JLL.

Nordyne: the motorways are ‘congested’ because they are key routes. Distributors want to be near to key routes – do you suggest they locate down a country lane instead?
Do freight movements occur at the same time as peak-hour commuter traffic? (Clue: no).
