Loungers seeks third Fylde coast venue

A licence application has been lodged with Wyre Council by the expanding national café-bar group, which wants to add Cleveleys to a roster already featuring Blackpool and Lytham.

The group intends to redevelop a former Argos store on Victoria Road West, part of a souped-up expansion push following its £338m sale to US private equity house Fortress Investment Group in November last year.

In line with other locations, Loungers is seeking a licence application covering the hours between 10am and midnight, with opening hours expected to be from 8am, seven days a week.

The Loungers model is simple, and based on familiarity and availability: all-day dining, every day, with the same menu across all branches – all of which have names ending in ‘Lounge’ with a first name ending in ‘o’, relating in some way to that specific building or location. “Your home away from home” is the pitch.

Also included in the group are the Cosy Club brand and the relatively new Brightside ‘roadside dining’ brand. As of March this year, the 2002-formed group operated 291 venues across England and Wales, and is targeting 30 new openings a year.
