Halewood Distillery grounds ready for sheds and Home Bargains

Knowsley Council’s planning committee gave a unanimous nod to Davos Property Developments’ plans to alter Huyton’s Sovereign Park with a 25,000 sq ft Home Bargains store and an additional three industrial units, amounting to 190,000 sq ft.

The units would span 74,800 sq ft, 49,000 sq ft, and 66,500 sq ft, joining the 185,000 sq ft first phase, where work by Barnfield Construction began in May 2024.

Davos Property Developments is under the ownership of both David Little and Thomas Morris, the latter the billionaire founder of the discount chain Home Bargains, which will be represented at the Halewood site.

Work will require both refurbishment and demolition of existing buildings at the plot.

Designs for the scheme have been led and delivered by AEW Architects. B8RE is the sole agent for the scheme.

The development is expected to achieve a BREEAM Very Good rating with an EPA rating of A, targeted for all units.

The 28-acre former Sovereign Distillery complex was sold for around £16m by Lambrini maker Halewood to Network Space in 2021 before Davos Property Developments took control of the site in 2023.

After the sale, Halewood relocated to Chorley.

Davos are quick off the blocks with their industrial developments but some of their residential stuff drags on. They are proceeding well with their Bridgwater St apartments but the scheme at 118-126 Duke St is taking an age to get on site.
