Johnston selected as chair of Onward’s board
The housing association has appointed Amion Consulting founder Tim Johnston, replacing outgoing chair Neil Goodwin .
Johnston will start his three-year term as chair of Onward Homes’ board in October. He is to continue as chairman of Liverpool-based Amion.
Prior to starting up Amion in 2000, Johnston spent nearly 27 years at KPMG as a senior partner and head of the company’s infrastructure division.
“Onward Homes is a powerful force for good in neighbourhoods across the North West,” Johnston said.
“Strong foundations are in place and many exciting achievements lie ahead. We will never forget that we are here to make a positive difference in the lives of our customers by listening to them and working with them in transparent and effective ways.”
Onward Homes provides affordable homes for rent and sale across the North West, owning and managing more than 35,000 properties in the region.
The company, formerly known as Symphony Housing Group, was established in 2018 when Contour Homes, Liverpool Housing Trust, Hyndburn Homes, Peak Valley Housing Association, and Ribble Valley Homes merged.
Last April, Onward raised £215m through its first bond issue.
Chief executive Bronwen Rapley said: “Onward is emerging united from a period of business transformation. As we look to the future, Tim’s extensive experience of leadership, business planning and governance will guide us to new heights, as we work with our communities to make a meaningful social and environmental impact.”
