Zaha Hadid misses out on Whitworth shortlist

The shortlist has now been selected for the competition to design a new extension and remodelling of the Whitworth Art Gallery for the University of Manchester on Oxford Road.

The longlist of ten, headed in the fame stakes by Zaha Hadid, has become a shortlist of five. The five shortlisted practices are:-

  • Amanda Levete Architects
  • Edward Cullinan Architects
  • Haworth Tompkins
  • MUMA
  • Stanton Williams

The shortlisted practices now have until mid September 2009 to work on their concept designs.

A public exhibition of the schemes will then be held at the Whitworth Art Gallery followed by final presentations to the jury panel and selection of a winner in early November.
