WUKPG closes in on 300,000 sq ft Congleton airbag factory
The investor is aiming to tie up a deal for the Airbags International site off Viking Way in December and has begun the search for a new tenant following the announcement of Autoliv’s departure.
Autoliv confirmed last month it would close down its 300,000 sq ft Congleton site, impacting around 250 workers. The firm is expected to conclude decommissioning work next year.
In the background, WUKPG has exchanged contracts with owner-occupier Autoliv to acquire the complex.
WUKPG managing director Oliver Lipson told Place the deal was an “opportunistic value-add” opportunity. He added that all occupation options would be considered, including dividing the complex up into smaller units.
While WUKPG did not disclose the purchase price, the asset was marketed for sale with a guide price of £10.75m.
JLL advised Autoliv and Sixteen advised WUKPG.
Sixteen and Williams Sillitoe have been appointed as leasing agents.
