Winvic starts on 760,000 sq ft Ellesmere Port industrial

The first phase of Link Logistics Park is set to be operational by the end of this year.

Link Logistics Park is set on 42 acres of land off Junction 7 of the M53. It was previously owned by Peel Ports and known as Port Cheshire.

Firethorn Trust is developing the project for owner Cain International, which purchased the site as part of a £550m portfolio acquisition earlier this year.

Winvic Construction was appointed as main contractor for Link Logistics Park in January. The Northampton company also delivered Firethorn’s Ascent Logistics Park in Bedfordshire.

Link Logistics Park was designed by Aew Architects and includes a 655,000 sq ft warehouse.

The industrial units on the site have been designed to BREEAM Excellent standard. The proposals include 15% roof light coverage and solar panels, with the capacity for full photovoltaic arrays in the future.

The scheme includes 32 electric vehicle charging points with the capability of being 100% commercial electric vehicle ready. Up to 25MV of power for the project will come from a local waste-to-energy facility, according to Firethorn.

Chris Webb, partner at Firethorn, said: “Link Logistics Park is a prime example of our commitment to creating modern and sustainable logistics spaces, offering excellent connectivity, market-leading specification and best-in-class design features.

“The scope and scale of this development are reflective of Firethorn’s growing ambition… We look forward to working closely with Winvic to bring the project to completion.”

Danny Nelson, Winvic’s director of industrial, design, and logistics, praised the scheme’s sustainability credentials: “Following the completion of the enabling works at Link Logistics Park in Ellesmere Port, we’re delighted to be able to start on site to create over 760,000 sq. ft. of net zero carbon industrial space.

“Having worked with Firethorn Trust to deliver Ascent Logistics Park – an eight-facility net zero carbon project – in less than 12 months, we have a fantastic relationship with their team and aim to exceed their expectations delivering this landmark 42-acre development.”

Link Logistics Park’s letting agents are CBRE, B8 and Moriarty & Co.
