Wigan hotel heads SDL auction list
The Coaching Inn, a Victorian hotel a mile from Wigan town centre, is among the lots to go under the hammer at SDL Auctions’ next North West auction, at the AJ Bell Stadium on Wednesday 12 September.
Built in 1895, the inn has been family owned and run for more than 30 years, but is now being made available due to retirement with a guide price of £285,000-plus.
Andy Thompson, senior valuer at SDL Auctions in the region, said: “This is a substantial property on a large plot. It currently operates as a hotel with 18 en-suite bedrooms and a restaurant and bar area. Internally it would be considered dated now and may be suitable for alternative uses, subject to planning.
“It has parking to the rear for approximately ten cars, so the site as a whole has potential. It is located on one of the main roads into Wigan, with a good and regular bus service into the town centre.” The Coaching Inn is less than two miles from the Three Sisters racing circuit and the DW Stadium.
Thompson added that its future may lie in redevelopment into apartments or housing, subject to planning permission. SDL recently sold Incefield House in Wigan for £100,000 above guide price.
Entries for the next SDL Auctions North West auction are now invited, and sellers with a property they would like to sell can contact the team at SDL Auctions North West on 0161 774 7333.
