WHR confirmed alongside Cushwake at Media City
After months of speculation that a second agent would be added to the marketing effort at Peel's Media City UK in Salford Quays, WHR has been officially appointed.
The Manchester-based independent agency's office team, headed by director Mike Hawkins, won a competitive pitch to land the coveted contract.
Cushman & Wakefield has been sole letting agent at the high-profile 5m sq ft scheme since its launch in 2007.
Peel real estate manager Steve Wild confirmed WHR's appointment this week.
The keys to the first of three buildings for the BBC were handed over in mid-October. The BBC has so far only been joined by Salford University on the office tenancy schedule. The BBC will employ 2,500 people at Media City from 2011 but the development has capacity for 15,000 workers.
The latest idea for filling the office element of the mixed-use project is a business centre aimed at occupiers in the computer games industry.
Many onlookers say Manchester City Council has attempted to steal Peel's thunder with its Sharp factory media hub in east Manchester.
