Warrington hotel plan scrapped in favour of sheds

A site off Slutchers Lane previously earmarked for a 126-bed hotel could be redeveloped into 14,500 sq ft of industrial accommodation under revised proposals submitted to the council.

Applicant Oakmere Homes has lodged plans for 10 industrial units on a one-acre site on the edge of Centre Park business park, which is currently used as a 104-space surface level car park.

The units would range in size from 1,290 sq ft to 1,770 sq ft. Each unit would have a mezzanine level and the scheme would offer 20 car parking spaces.

The proposals are a significant departure from the earlier vision for the site. In 2020, Real estate firm Clifford Christian Estates submitted plans for a 126-bedroom, seven-storey hotel on the site.

The plans were backed by the council but withdrawn earlier this year.

Enabl is advising on planning and Falconer Chester Hall is the architect.
