Views sought on Bolton’s 4.7m sq ft West of Wingates masterplan
Bolton Council has launched a consultation on the draft SPD documents, which outline a plan to develop the 456-acre plot within the NorthFold growth corridor into a regional employment hub.
The consultation is to mould a framework to guide future applications for the 4.7m sq ft employment hub and follows a pledge of a £17.1m funding boost under the £1bn Good Growth Fund announced last week.

Harworth is leading the development of the masterplan for the site, named after its location, lying to the west of Wingates Industrial Estate in Westhoughton.
The site benefits from quick access to the A6, which runs across its northern edge. The land is allocated for development under the nine-borough Places for Everyone growth plan.
West of Wingates could create up to 6,000 jobs, which would be served by a network of public transport and active travel routes, connecting green public open space.
The development would be delivered in four main phases. Phase one already has planning permission and is set to deliver 794,000 sq ft of workspace and a new access road from the A6.
Full completion of the strategic masterplan is expected to take up to 20 years.
The consultation closes on 22 January.

What kind of jobs are you talking about?
It will just become a distribution centre with more wagons on the roads. If those companies relocate they will bring their staff with them so no new jobs created. Is there not enough distribution centres in the area, with that monstrosity facing Tesco.
