Upper Brook Street hotel approved

Braidwater has been granted planning approval to build a budget hotel on Upper Brook Street in Manchester.

The hotel will be operated by Travelodge and has been designed by architects Pozzoni and will include 100 bedrooms as well as a ground floor restaurant.

The 33,000 sq ft hotel is located opposite a new children's hospital and near the Oxford Road area, south of Manchester city centre, which is undergoing regeneration.

Tony Bennet, consultant architect with Pozzoni, said: "The building will make a real contribution to the regeneration of the area in terms of build quality, employment generation and business activity."

Located on a derelict site, the hotel will consist of six storeys at street level and three storeys at the rear.

The project is due to start on site within the next three months.
