Two more resi projects on site in Manchester
Two large-scale residential schemes have started on site this month, in Salford’s Ordsall and Manchester’s Ancoats, delivering a total of 500 new flats.
Forrest has been appointed the contractor for M-One Central, a £12.6m residential development for private sale in Great Ancoats Street.
Developer Factory Estates gained planning permission last year for 119 one and two-bedroom apartments over 12 storeys, in addition to communal spaces including a roof-level terrace, a ground-floor gym for residents and a landscaped public square.
Designed by architect IDP Group, the building will be clad in oxidised metal, to match with the red brick of neighbouring properties. Construction is due to complete in summer 2017.
In Salford, McGoff Group has started preparatory works for Downtown, a 380-apartment project in Woden Street.
The flats are a mix of one-, two- and three-bedrooms, with planning permission granted at the end of last year.
Once completed the scheme will be managed for the private rented sector by in-house operator Downtown.
The development includes a 2,000 sq ft retail unit and a gym, café and meeting room.
Sister company McGoff & Byrne is the contractor on the development, and has commenced site clearance works. Full build will begin in September.
Two great schemes fantastic for Manchester.

I like the Ancoats one.Very appropriate design for that district.

The Ancoats one is indeed fitting… much better than the appalling “Nuovo” tower visible in the background!

I quite like the nuovo tower actually, it’s the low rise aspect I don’t like.

Not sure about Nuovo to be honest. It is more suited to Deansgate.Don’t hate it but it isn’t in the right place.

Who sold the site to the developers?
