Turley appoints Northern head of planning

Andrew Bickerdike has stepped into the role at the planning and development consultancy, taking over from Stephen Bell who has been promoted to chief executive.

Bickerdike joined Turley in 2007 as an assistant planner, moving his way up to senior planner in 2011 and director in 2017, a position he has held for the last six years.

Previous roles also include planning assistant at Fairhurst and graduate planner at Salford City Council.

In his new role as Northern head of planning at Turley, Bickerdike will focus on growing the firm’s profile in city centre markets and expanding its client base in key growth sectors, including logistics and energy.

Based in Manchester, Bickerdike will work alongside and lead existing directors Anna Relph and Mark Worcester, as well as senior director David Diggle, in the company’s northern planning team.

Bickerdike said: “I’m hugely excited to be heading up a new leadership team, which will develop Turley’s planning service in the north.

“We have a brilliant team and our workload has never been as diverse by sector and geography as it is today.

“Our reputation as trusted advisers in the industry means we continue to grow our portfolio of exciting projects and we are therefore well placed to respond positively to challenges and opportunities which the market is facing into.”

Also at Turley’s Manchester office, Emma Dickson has been promoted to Northern head of strategic communications.

Turley chief executive, Bell, said: “It’s been a fantastic year for us in the North.

“We’ve been helping to deliver transformational projects across a range of sectors from major energy infrastructure projects, to ground-breaking regeneration schemes and some of the most significant housing developments in the region…

“Our success relies on the contribution of our talented people and I’m delighted to be able to recognise the hard work, commitment, and creativity of our co-owners across the North.”
