Travis Perkins sells three sites

Cushman & Wakefield’s logistics & industrial team has advised the builders’ merchant on the disposal of the surplus sites across the North West.

The sales, each to private individuals, include Woodhouse Lane in Wigan, a main road trade counter that attracted interest from the owner-occupier market and sold for £692,000; Boodle Street in Ashton-under-Lyne, a site that was part-owned by Tameside Council and is located on the outskirts of the town centre; and a three-acre site in Sandside, Cumbria which sold for approximately £300,000 per acre.

All three sales were made to private individuals.

C&W’s Will Kenyon said that the disposals form part of an ongoing programme of re-evaluating sites, with Travis Perkins having recently opened a location close to the Ashton-under-Lyne facility. He said that acquisition opportunities are being looked at for several parts of the Travis Perkins group, which includes kitchen brand Benchmarx, Wickes, Toolstation and Tile Giant among others.

Kenyon said: “Whilst there have been a number of branch closures across the North West, Travis Perkins continue to acquire new premises and have a number of active requirements in the market. We continue to work with Travis Perkins and have ongoing instructions with them across the region both on the disposal and acquisitions front.”
