Trammell Crow Company plots large warehouse in Heywood

Having recently acquired the freehold of the 28-acre site off Manchester Road from Telereal Trillium, the global developer is already drawing up plans to build a 475,000 sq ft logistics space.

Ashton Smith is the architect behind the scheme, which will be submitted for planning permission in the near future.

The site’s transport links and proximity to Heywood Distribution Park made it an attractive location for Trammell Crow Company. The developer purchased the land for an undisclosed amount. Moriarity & Co acted for Trammell Crow on the deal and Gerald Eve represented owners Telereal Trillium.

“Located in a prime logistics market and with outstanding transport links, our latest UK acquisition has significant potential,” said Mike Forster, the head of UK logistics at Trammell Crow.

Forster said the future industrial unit would be environmentally sustainable and socially beneficial.

“This site will create new jobs for local people, both in its development and when it’s operational, replacing an old and no longer fit-for-purpose space with one that is well designed, environmentally friendly, and makes a positive impact in Heywood and the surrounding area,” he said.
