Trafford outlines sites for development and disposal

Altrincham Town Hall, Friars Court and the old Partington Library are among seven plots listed as suitable for disposal or lease by Trafford Council.

The report, a review of the council’s strategic land review programme, also listed 16 sites suitable for development, either by the council or through a joint venture.

Several of the sites on the list are already the subject of a development project, including the old Sale Magistrates Court site, the former Kellogg’s headquarters and Tamworth Estate.

Trafford is plotting an £18m residential development with 84 homes on the site of the Sale Magistrates Court. That scheme has been awarded £1.26m from the Greater Manchester Combined Authority’s brownfield fund.

The old Kellogg’s site is set to become a large neighbourhood with 750 homes, a primary school and 200,000 sq ft of offices. That project is being headed by the council and Bruntwood.

Tamworth is set to become 174 homes, thanks to a partnership between the council and Trafford Housing Trust.
