TMP signs ten members

Ten companies have signed up as members of The Mersey Partnership to help develop the economy in the Liverpool city region.

TMP said new members include:

  • Standard Chartered – A British financial services company, with operations in over 70 countries and 1,700 branches and outlets. TMP has been working closely with the company, helping put together corporate hospitality packages for Liverpool FC football matches
  • ScottishPower – Part of the Iberdrola Group, ScottishPower operates the electricity distribution network in Merseyside and North Wales and is responsible for the physical supply of electricity to 1.5m customers. TMP said the company is providing expert advice and support to the Liverpool city region in the development of Smart Grid technology and energy master planning
  • PriceWaterhouseCoopers – Professional services provider with offices in Liverpool. PWC covers services such as audit and assurance, tax, corporate finance and human resources, helping industries from aerospace and defence to manufacturing
  • Sanguine Hospitality – operates a portfolio of hotels and restaurants across the city region including West Tower and The Swan Inn. Sanguine is also due to open two new hotels in Liverpool city centre in 2011 including Days Inn in James Street and Indigo Hotel in Chapel Street, to add to their UK portfolio of hotels, health clubs, luxury spas and pubs
  • Stiebel Eltron – Based in Wirral, the company specialises in heating, ventilation, air conditioning and systems technologies
  • Beech Jones de Lloyd – A solicitors with offices in Liverpool and Cardiff. The firm provides a full range of legal services, including commercial law, employment law, litigation, probate and family law
  • Bruntwood – A privately owned commercial property company, which owns and manages over 90 properties in Liverpool, Birmingham, Leeds and Manchester
  • base2stay – The company selected Liverpool for its first UK development outside London, opening its Seel Street hotel last month. TMP said base2stay is acknowledged as one of the innovators of the luxury budget hotel concept, with a roll out programme planned in other locations
  • Royal Haskoning – An independent engineering and environmental consultancy with 3,900 staff operating in 17 countries worldwide, with offices in Liverpool. The company's areas of expertise include transport planning and renewable energy projects
  • Plus Dane Group – A housing association, which owns or manages over 15,000 homes across the Liverpool city region and Cheshire

Lorraine Rogers, TMP chief executive, said: "These are significant new members for TMP who support our work to develop the city region's economy. We are looking forward to working with them all. Our membership and commercial income accounts for around a third of our total income and it contributes directly to activity to promote the city region's assets and opportunities for economic growth.

"The collective clout and collaboration between TMP's private sector members and our public sector partners remains at the heart of what we do."

TMP is responsible for driving economic growth across Liverpool city region's economy in four key sectors including the low carbon economy, the knowledge economy, the visitor economy and region's port, airport and logistics infrastructure. TMP promotes the city region's key assets in each of these sectors to help create jobs and wealth in the area.

TMP said it now 530 members on board which totals to £1m a year in memberships fees.

TMP added members are either approached by the organisation at networking events or companies approach TMP to become members and there are different levels of membership to sign up to.
