The Range plots 40,000 sq ft Salford store

The retailer, which specialises in home and garden products, is to open at Walkden Retail Park.

Derwent Estates, which owns the shopping complex, has submitted an application to amalgamate three existing units to create a 40,000 sq ft shop for The Range.

The plans include the creation of a 17,000 sq ft mezzanine floor.

Two of the units that will be knocked through to create The Range are currently vacant and the third is occupied by Poundland, whose lease expires this year.

“The introduction of The Range…will be broadly recognised as a positive addition to the town centre offer and act as a genuine attractant,” according to a planning statement by Aylward Town Planning.

It is hoped that the arrival of The Range could act as a catalyst for other tenants to take space at the complex.

The Range’s Walken store will be its second in Salford. The company opened a shop at West One Retail Park in Eccles in 2014.

I think it will a welcomed addition to Walkden as we need more shops there and job opportunities we shop at the range in bolton and leigh at the moment. Will there be a possible garden section outside or is it not possible there .
