Talks over Livesey salvage deals ongoing
Administrator Begbies Traynor is negotiating with undisclosed Lancashire developers about the possible sale of contracts left by the collapse of the Livesey Group before Christmas.
In a statement, joint administrators Andrew Dick and David Acland at Begbies Traynor said: "The Livesey Group ceased its operations prior to Christmas 2007 following the redundancy of its 40-strong workforce. The company was operating as main contractor on six contracts in the Liverpool, Manchester and Cumbria areas on housing, retail and office developments.
"[We] are seeking to maximise the value of these contracts and a number of expressions of interest have been received to date from developers based in the Lancashire district. At this stage in the process, it is not clear whether the contracts will have a significant value and what will become available for The Livesey Group's creditors."
Meanwhile Lancashire police are investigating a suspected arson attack on owner Alan Livesey's house in Longridge on Christmas Day. The fire destroyed an outhouse and the quad bikes inside. In an earlier incident on 14 December, attackers slashed the tyres on his Land Rover. A Lancashire police spokesman said: "Whether it is connected to the firm going into administration, we do not know, but it is one of our lines of enquiry."
