Sweets manufacturer signs for Middlewich warehouse

Tritax Symmetry has exchanged contracts with Love Hearts maker Swizzels Matlow for the delivery of a 158,000 sq ft facility at Ma6nitude in Middlewich, Cheshire.

The warehouse will form part of the 460,000 sq ft first phase at the business park.

The facility will be an expansion of Swizzels’ manufacturing capability, and the company said will involve a significant additional investment in new plant and machinery.

David Nuttall, development director at Tritax Symmetry, said: “Bringing a well-respected and long-established company to Ma6nitude is a huge coup for both the scheme and the region. Swizzels’ decision to choose Ma6nitide as the location for such a significant investment in growing their business emphasises the quality of the site and their confidence in our ability to deliver this new manufacturing facility. This is also excellent news for Middlewich too, bringing a range of good quality jobs to the area.”

A planning application is due to be submitted imminently.

The professional team acting on Ma6nitude includes AEW Architects, and Avison Young as planner, as well as CMS, RPS, Shepherd Gilmour, Hannan Associates and Utility Connections.

Legat Owen, Savills and B8 Real Estate are joint letting agents.

Savills, Beaumont Lord and Land Law represented Swizzels Matlow on the deal.

Located off Junction 18 of the M6, Ma6nitude has plots from between three and 53 acres, allowing for the construction of units between 40,000 sq ft and 638,000 sq ft.

Tritax Symmetry is the development arm of Tritax Big Box REIT.

I feel enough green spaces have been eaten up in Middlewich. This means more cars, more lorries, more pollution. That area has some lovely wildlife, we are driving them out. Soon Middlewich will be one built up area with very little green belt. Why not help nature not destroy it. I’ve seen herons, the odd lapwing, foxes to name but a few. It breaks my heart. The scenary is lovely too. Please rethink this.

Your transport will be stuck on the the Holmes chapel road every morning for hours on the way out and they will be stuck every night on the way back. The M6 is very close but hours and hours away.
Bad choice .. Oh yes you will also have to deal with one of the most incompetent councils in the country.. WELCOME TO MIDDLEWICH

Welcome to the Road to Hell, gridlock every day. Never mind though the bypass will be built soon!
Oh, and lets hope that any new jobs are the usual go-to minimum wage, zero hours contracts.

Despite having no Bypass yet due to incompetent Cheshire East Council skullduggery we welcome new jobs and new development it can only emphasise our need for urgent infrastructure, welcome to our lovely Town and our hard working community

How long before the whole town of New Mills (original factory site) is bereft of work? This Derbyshire town has devoted its inhabitants to Swizzels Matlow and has generations of families working there. Swizzels has previously been a family based company who have put the interests of its employees at the forefront – looks like the new generation doesn’t
