Sefton’s Park Hotel eyes 40-room extension

The hotel on Netherton’s Dunnings Bridge Road also plans to open seven padel tennis courts, including one tailored to meet future Olympic standards.

By adding the five-storey extension, designed by Sefton-based WD Architects, the hotel’s offer would be expanded by 40 rooms, from 62 to 102.

The application was submitted to Sefton Council by Wroot Design on behalf of City Life Projects and would see 40,000 sq ft added to the eastern end of the existing building.

Works are not expected to impact the existing buildings on the 2.5-acre site.

Four of the proposed rooms in the extension would be specifically designed to maximise accessibility.

Six of the existing 97 car parking spaces would be converted into EV charging points.

At the padel centre, located to the rear of the 50-year-old hotel, changing rooms, sauna and ice bath facilities, and a café would be provided.

A viewing area overlooking the courts has also been proposed, with access provided from the hotel.

Currently, the Park Hotel’s ground floor houses a public bar, function rooms, and a restaurant.

The existing hotel will connect seamlessly to the new sporting facility and rooms via level access throughout, according to planning documents.

A vote of confidence for the area, with the padel courts too being very popular now.
