Search starts for ‘Liverpool plc’ offices
Surveyor Keppie Massie has been hired to find the new office for the Liverpool super-agency being created out of the merger of three of the city's quangos.
The new organisation, nicknamed 'Liverpool plc' but as yet without an official name, is looking for between 10,000 sq ft and 15,000 sq ft, to be ready for occupation by April 2008.
Stuart Keppie, of Keppie Massie, said: "The brief is for open plan with some cellular rooms and public exhibition space."
Landing the powerful new agency will be a high-profile boost for the winning building. Likely contenders include The Capital, Horton House, 20 Chapel Street, Mercury Court and 38 Exchange Street East.
Keppie added: "There has to be some visibility to the office with a recognised entrance as members of the public will need to visit the company."
The new company is being created by the merger of Liverpool Land Development Company, a publicly funded property investment agency for four outlying areas of the city, Liverpool Vision, the public-private urban regeneration company for the city centre, and enterprise support vehicle Business Liverpool. The move was ordered by city council leader Cllr Warren Bradley after complaints about confusion among businesses over the city's regeneration support structure.
The three are currently based in separate offices: LLDC in Mersey House, Garston; Liverpool Vision in The Observatory; and Business Liverpool in One Old Hall Street, both city centre.
