Rok cuts contracting offices in Liverpool and Manchester
Rok has stopped taking new contracting work in the firm's Liverpool office and reduced the volume in Manchester as part of a plan to reduce its exposure to the sector.
The firm's estimating business has also been moved from Manchester to York. None of the company's 63 offices will be closed, the company said.
The listed group will concentrate on growing the maintenance order book for local authorities and housing associations as a security measure against the state of the economy.
Rok is aiming to cut its annual contracting turnover from £500m down to £300m.
In recent weeks the commercial development division was closed to new building, halting progress at Wilmslow and Blackpool schemes. Both sites are now for sale.
Rok chief executive Garvis Snook said redundancies on the contracting side were inevitable but more people would be recruited than lost due to the expansion of maintenance work.
