RLB appoints managing partner

Manchester-based consultancy Rider Levett Bucknall has promoted Steve Gillingham to head up the firm’s operations in the North West and Northern Ireland.

Gillingham joined the company as partner and national head of public sector in 2018, having spent the previous seven years as regional director at Mace.

Previously a director of the Northern Powerhouse partnership and a non-executive director of the Seashell Trust in Cheshire, Gillingham’s remit as managing partner will extend to Belfast, where RLB has just opened an office.

Elsewhere in the North West, the construction, property and management consultancy also has offices in Liverpool, which opened in 2019, Warrington, and Egremont in Cumbria.

Overall, RLB employs 3,900 staff operating from more than 120 offices in 44 countries. The company’s services include surveying, cost consultancy, and project management.

Andrew Reynolds, chief executive at RLB UK, said: “The North West is a key region for RLB. Not only is it a key economic hub for the UK, but the centre of industry for many of our clients and collaborators within the industry.

“Steve is established within the region and his passion for expanding RLB’s regional business and creating opportunity for the team is clear.”

RLB’s current projects include the redevelopment of Manchester College’s Openshaw campus into a centre of excellence for construction and logistics, Investar Property Group’s £65m Royal George Village mixed-use scheme in Stockport, and Bruntwood Works’ Booth Park No6, a 71,000 sq ft office development in Knutsford.
