Riverside selects Dolan as CEO

Paul Dolan will replace Carol Matthews in the role in May when the incumbent chief executive of the social housing provider retires.

Dolan will join Riverside Group from Accent, where he has been chief executive since 2016.

He was also chief executive of Johnnie Johnson Housing Trust between 2014 and 2017 and has enjoyed stints at Liverpool Housing Trust and Prospect Housing. The latter as an appointee of the Regulator of Social Housing.

Terrie Alafat, group chair of Riverside, said Dolan was the “stand-out candidate in a strong field of applicants”.

“He will bring a wealth of experience to Riverside, a passion for social housing, and a dedication to customer service,” she said.

“As one of the largest housing associations in the country, Riverside plays an integral role in helping shape the sector’s approach and voice. I know given Paul’s qualities, he will continue to lead that work.”

Carol Matthews announced her intention to retire in September after 12 years in the top job at Riverside.

Her successor said he was honoured to be appointed and praised the outgoing CEO.

“Under Carol’s guidance, Riverside has achieved significant milestones, and I am fortunate to inherit an organisation formed on such strong foundations,” Dolan said.

“As I step into this new role, my commitment is to uphold the strong values and principles that have made Riverside a respected provider in the housing sector. By working alongside Riverside’s board and committees, colleagues, customers, and partners, I am eager to leverage our collective expertise to continue delivering great services and creating thriving communities as we work together to address the evolving needs of our residents.”

Among the schemes Dolan will adopt in the North West is the £60m regeneration of Halton Lea.
