Reform’s plans for Salford’s Adelphi Lads Club emerge
The Cannon Street building, which has been operating as a bar since the summer, will be demolished to pave the way for a residential scheme.
Reform Developments bought Adelphi Lads Club earlier this year for £1m. The developer is working with architect Lind Studio to draw up proposals for the site.
The club, which was originally formed in 1888 with the aim of offering a safe social environment for the local boys of the area, will be knocked down and replaced with 19 three-bedroom houses.
Located on the corner of Cannon Street and North George Street, close to the Farmer Norton Car Park, the site already has planning consent for the construction of 32 apartments in a five-storey block.
However, Reform has chosen to rework the earlier proposals put forward by developer Knightbridge.
Knightbridge lodged the approved plans in 2017 and finally won approval from Salford City Council last year.
Adelphi Lads Club closed in 2008 and was damaged by a fire two years later. Following Reform’s acquisition, the site reopened as a bar earlier this year.
DPP Planning is advising Reform on its proposals.
Don’t agree with this at all. Keep it as a bar and outdoor event space. Plenty of other areas in Salford where residential developments like this can take place. Boo!

Was a great club for poor Salford boys and girls what a shame progress?
