Radcliffe Library is all set for a revamp, with the facility due to be transformed into an 8,100 sq ft coworking hub now that planning permission has been secured.
Ryder Architecture led the design for the Radcliffe Enterprise Centre, which will see the remodelling of the library building’s interior to create a mixture of small offices, hotdesking areas, and larger meeting rooms.
The plans also call for the resurfacing of the car park.
When the coworking facility is live, the library will be moved to the future £40m Radcliffe civic hub in the town centre.

Eccleston Homes has gotten the go-ahead for its plans to construct 57 houses on a seven-acre site off Bridge Street in Ramsbottom. The proposals also include the demolition of the existing buildings on the plot, which was once a paper mill. Most of the paper mill structures were cleared in 2012.
Of the 57 houses, two will have two bedrooms, 31 will have three, and 24 will have four. The homes themselves will be a mixture of terraced, semi-detached, and detached dwellings. None will be designated affordable.
There will be 112 spaces for residents on the site, as well as 24 found in garages for the houses. The public will also have parking, with a 47-space car park being provided.
The project team includes Lichfields, SCP, JPM Acoustics, Ascerta, BETTS Geo, and Enzygo.

Kemp Heaton Ave. supported living
- Application reference number: 70015
Councillors voted to approve Great Places Housing Group’s plans for 43 affordable homes off Kemp Heaton Avenue in Bury.
AEW Architects designed the project, which consists of 18 supported living flats in a three-storey apartment block. There would also be eight bungalows, seven houses, and 10 cottage flats as part of the plans.
Great Places director of development Nick Gornall praised the council’s decision regarding the project.
“Developed in close consultation with the council, the development highlights Great Places’ commitment to working with partners to provide much-needed specialist homes in the local area, allowing residents to remain close to friends and family in accommodation which meets their support needs,” Gornall said.
“Our vision is to create a diverse development that’s safe and secure with a range of homes to meet identified local need and foster a sense of community. With 18 apartments for supported living, wheelchair-accessible bungalows, and a mix of other affordable homes, this project has inclusivity at its heart. We’d like to thank all partners involved and look forward to breaking ground this autumn.”
Cllr Clare Cummins, Bury Council’s cabinet member for housing services, added: “We are delighted to see another brownfield site in Bury being brought back into use for the local community. The council has worked extensively with Great Places to ensure the right housing mix on this site, to help meet the current and future needs of residents.
“The new development will substantially enhance the surrounding area and bring forward much-needed specialist and affordable homes within a highly sustainable location,” she continued.
“We will continue to work closely with local housing providers to ensure Bury’s existing residents are prioritised to benefit from any new residential development in the borough.”
