Race for EP site reinforces Skelmersdale industrial market

Lambert Smith Hampton has received more than a dozen expressions of interest in an industrial development plot for sale by English Partnerships in Skelmersdale.

The 8.53-acre site on Staveley Road and Statham Road is part of the Stanley industrial estate which has expanded rapidly in recent years to house Great Bear, Comet and Asda among others.

LSH has not quoted a price but the area attracts around £275,000 an acre for industrial use.

Andrew Aherne, director of LSH, said: "Regardless of any perceived slowdown in the market there is still a voracious appetite for land in the North West. This site is likely to be of interest to developers and owner-occupiers for their own use. This is the last significant plot of development land available for sale within Skelmersdale and is therefore a rare opportunity."

Best bids are due before 5 December with a decision shortly after.
