Proposals for 42 discount apartments in Salford tabled
Registered provider ForHousing and developer Built Developments have lodged plans for a 100% affordable scheme on the site of the now-demolished St Mary’s Church in Swinton.
A planning application for a four-storey block featuring 42 apartments has been submitted to Salford City Council.
The scheme would provide 34 one-bedroom homes and eight two-bedroom apartments, all of which would be available for social rent.
It is hoped the project could help plug a gap in the city’s provision of affordable homes.
The site was formerly occupied by St Mary’s Church, which was demolished in 2020 as part of a reorganisation by Salford Diocese brought about by a lack of priests.
Falconer Chester Hall is the architect for the development and Zerum is advising on planning.
