Primesite on with office-to-resi conversion
Primesite Developments has started work on a 122-unit apartment conversion of former Ministry of Defence offices on Liverpool’s Strand after acquiring the site from Jupiter Developments for £7m.
Mersey House, to be renamed Strand Plaza, occupies a prominent site in the Unesco World Heritage area facing the Cunard Building, Port of Liverpool Building and Royal Liver Building. Beetham Plaza, next door, was developed for residential in the late 1990s. The Ministry of Defence vacated Mersey House in 2007 and it has been empty since.
Bobbie Johnson, director of Primeside Developments, said: “We are unbelievably excited about Strand Plaza. As one of the last undeveloped sites sitting directly on the main road into our city, this really isn’t an opportunity that comes along every day.”
Skelmersdale-based Primesite will act as main contractor as well as developer. The architect is KDP. Euan Kellie Property Solutions provided planning advice.
One bedroom apartments are available now from £99,000 to £199,000 and two bedroom apartments from £149,000 to £325,000.
Primesite is also on site at Herculaneum Dock south of the city centre completing a stalled development of residential towers rising to 15 storeys overlooking the Mersey.
Completion of Strand Plaza is scheduled for early 2017.
