Pochin opens Stobart account with £22m contract
The Stobart Group has awarded Pochin Construction a £22m contract to build a 350,000 sq ft chilled distribution store and a 134,000 sq ft recycling services centre in Widnes.
Pochin said the contract win brought the total amount of work secured in the past four months to £61.9m.
The buildings will form the first phase of the extension to 3MG, Stobart's large multi-modal gateway served by road, rail and river. The site on Mathieson Road is currently being remediated by Stobart before Pochin installs 4,000 pre-cast concrete piles ahead of steel erection.
The project is scheduled for completion at the end of July next year.
Jonathan Pochin, managing director of Pochin Construction, commented: "This will be the first contract we have undertaken for the Stobart Group.
"With the re-launch of Pochin Construction now complete, there is definitely a renewed sense of vigour within the team and we are looking forward to working with the Stobart team, and architects, Aston Smith & Fairhurst Engineers, to deliver this project."
Andy Bathgate, project director, Stobart Group, added: "We are pleased that Pochin is on board as main contractor for phase one of our development at Widnes. We are to develop our other sites at Southend and Carlisle airports, and hope to establish a long term relationship with Pochin Construction."
