Equestrian centre planned for six-acre Twemlow site
Gadwall Estates is behind the change of use proposals to develop an animal assisted intervention centre for autistic children at Saltersford Farm, off Macclesfield Road.
The project would see buildings replaced and conversions to others to develop supporting facilities, and enable short-stay residential use, according to the plans lodged with Cheshire East Council.
Buildings at the Twemlow Green site are currently used for farm business, but if plans are approved a barn would be demolished to make way for 25 parking spaces, and a large steel frame barn would also be torn down to make way for an indoor riding arena.
Another barn would be converted into an ‘American style-barn’ to accommodate 14 horses and two one-bed apartments to enable staff to be on hand 24/7.
A two-storey barn brick extension would create a respite area, while eight holiday accommodation units would be developed for autistic children and their families or carers. These units would provide a mix of two-bed, up to five-bed accommodation.
Plans also show a field shelter would be taken down and replaced with a hydrotherapy pool.
Sensus Architecture, Castledine Energy, Kingdom Ecology, and Groundsure are on the project team.
