Pochin/Malahat jv secures Co-Op prelet

Pochin Developments and Malahat Properties have formed a joint venture to carry out the redevelopment of the former Leeds Pottery site on Anchor Road in Longton, Stoke-on-Trent.

The site is being redeveloped into 6,500 sq ft of retail accommodation, of which 4,000 sq ft has been pre-let to the Co-Op supermarket.

The pre-let leaves two units of 1,250 sq ft remaining. Work is due for completion in December 2008.

James Howson, development surveyor for Pochin, said: "By redeveloping the former Leeds Pottery site, we hope to provide a convenient retail hub for the surrounding residential area. The pre-let secured to the Co-Op will act as an anchor for the retail scheme, in turn, attracting occupiers of a similar calibre to the development."

David Weston at Butters John Bee is letting agent for the scheme.
