Plans in for Embankment West PRS
Select Property Group, in collaboration with Ask Real Estate, has submitted a planning application for 694 apartments at Embankment West, part of the Greengate regeneration scheme in Salford.
The building will be split into three towers of 12, 25 and 32 storeys, with a mix of flats available for the private rented market from studios to three-bedrooms.
As well as lounge areas open to the public, the ground floor plans feature a private entertainment space which connects to an external landscaped area. The mezzanine level plans include co-working spaces and a gym. The project includes a roof garden, media room, and yoga studio.
The development will operate under Select’s Affinity Living brand. The scheme was designed by Callison RTKL.
The site sits on the northern bank of the River Irwell, next to Manchester Victoria Station and opposite Manchester Cathedral.
Embankment West is part of Salford Council’s Greengate scheme, which is set to include more than 3m sq ft of residential, retail and commercial space.
It is Select’s second development in the area, with its CitySuites serviced apartment scheme next to Embankment West due for completion in December 2016.
Mark Stott, chief executive of Select, said: “With such a prominent location within this important regeneration initiative, Affinity Living residents will undoubtedly benefit from the vibrancy of this area as it continues to develop and evolve. Similarly, we want our residents to inject diversity and personality into the area and so have designed the building to actively encourage interaction with the local community.”
Network Rail is the owner of the land, and said that revenue from the scheme would be used to reinvest in railway improvements.
If planning permission is granted, it is anticipated work will start in July 2016 with completion in December 2019.
