PlaceEXPO: Hill Dickinson Developers’ Conference
This annual Hill Dickinson event will cover the current key issues in property, construction, property litigation and regulatory issues. Also joining the line-up this year is Simon Mann, development director at Chester Zoo, and Emyr Williams, development director at Liberty Properties.
The event on Thursday 10 July in the unique surroundings of Chester Zoo will include a BBQ and a memorable networking evening, together with a guided zoo safari; a fantastic opportunity to explore the zoo after the gates have been closed to the public.

Kevin Lee will look at situations where a development infringes a neighbour's rights, whether rights of light, restrictive covenants or trespass to their land. Will it be an injunction or damages – and how will the damages be calculated? This will include commentary on the latest guidance from the Supreme Court in Coventry v Lawrence.

Michael Woolley looks at ways a developer may seek to protect his profit by adopting a strategic approach to risk allocation when drafting and negotiating the building contract

Bill Chandler counts down the top 5 property and planning law issues affecting Hill Dickinson's developer clients in 2014. From the latest Supreme Court ruling on village greens to the encroachment of competition law considerations and EU procurement rules into development agreements, which topical theme will top the chart?!

Drawing on a wealth of experience in identifying, planning and delivering successful developments on a wide range of scales and scope, Emyr will highlight some of the key challenges he has faced and overcome during his time as a developer and pick out some of the key lessons he has learnt along the way.

The UK's second largest paying visitor attraction and one of the top 15 zoos in the world, work is currently under way on the construction on the Zoo's Islands project, the largest and most ambitious development in UK zoo history. As well as providing an overview of the project Simon will look, from the developer's perspective, at some of the obstacles that have had to be overcome in delivering such a unique project.
