Place helps launch Greater Manchester Wellbeing Series

Place North West is teaming up with Nick Rusling, the former owner of the Manchester Marathon, for a 5.5-kilometre run and a two-kilometre walk at Heaton Park on 21 May as part of a year-long campaign to make the city region’s workforce healthier.

The Greater Manchester Wellbeing Series also includes a virtual guided meditation day on 22 October, which will demonstrate how three minutes of calm can improve focus.

Place will be championing the property industry during the wellbeing series, helping the event raise £100,000 for Forever Manchester by assembling teams of three or more built environment professionals to participate.

“By partnering with and helping to launch the first-ever Greater Manchester Wellbeing Series, Place North West is excited to provide all those in the Northern property industry a fun opportunity to network and keep fit,” said managing partner Dino Moutsopoulos.

“Nick and the team have a wealth of experience in this field, and we look forward to working alongside them to create something unique for the Northern property market.

“Our ambition is to have 3,000 participants in the series. We encourage everyone to get involved,” he concluded.

Rusling, who is also the former chief executive of Tour de France owner ASO, said: “After twenty years working in mass participation, I’ve seen one thing time and again: when people get active together, it changes how they feel, how they connect, and how they show up in life and at work.”

Rusling continued: “The Greater Manchester Wellbeing Series gives every organisation a simple, uplifting way to support their people’s mental and physical wellbeing; through running, walking, meditation and mindfulness.”

Later, he added: “From personal experience, the property sector leads from the front in workplace wellbeing. And the added fun and competitive edge that runs throughout the sector lends itself very well to getting stuck into the GM Wellbeing Series.  Place North West (and their spirit) make for the ideal partners to champion workplace wellbeing.”

Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham is one of the supporters of the wellbeing series.

“The Greater Manchester Wellbeing Series is a flagship demonstration that we care about our workforce and our communities,” Burnham said.

“It’s about prevention, not just cure, creating a culture where people look after their mental and physical health together,” he continued.

“Wellbeing shouldn’t be a privilege; it should be something everyone can take part in. The Greater Manchester Wellbeing Series gives every organisation, large or small, the chance to make movement and mindfulness part of everyday life.”

“It’s a great example of our city-region’s inclusive approach to health and work,” Burnham said.
