PJ Livesey plans at Didsbury set for sign-off
Manchester City Council is expected to approve a hybrid planning application from PJ Livesey Group for 93 homes at the former MMU campus site in Didsbury.
The developer submitted its plans for the 17-acre site in April. The campus was acquired in July 2014 as part of the Manchester Metropolitan University’s disposal of surplus sites following its move to Birley Fields in Hulme.
PJ Livesey’s proposal is to create 19 apartments and 12 houses at the grade two-listed administration building and convert the grade two-listed chapel into 10 apartments. There will be further conversion of three smaller listed buildings, The Lodge, 801 and 803 Wilmslow Road, into three homes.
A further 42 new houses ranging in size from 1,283 sq ft to 3,372 sq ft with an emphasis on outside space, architecture and retention of trees, are planned for the grounds.
There are also plans for a new-build block of seven apartments ranging from 2,081 sq ft to a four-bedroom 2,782 sq ft penthouse.
The scheme will provide 93 homes in total.
The proposals include an outline application for a 32,000 sq ft primary school on the Broomhurst Halls of Residence site.
Manchester City Council will meet to discuss the scheme at its planning committee meeting on Thursday 30 July.
PJ Livesey was advised by HOW Planning and Calderpeel Architects.
