Peel submits Ellesmere Port plans

Peel Investments North has submitted an outline planning application to Cheshire West & Chester Council for a mixed-use scheme in Ellesmere Port.

The proposal covers 6.4 acres within the Rossfield Park Strategic Area off Rossmore Road East and Jacks Wood Avenue to the north of the town centre.

If approved and delivered there will be a hotel, pub, petrol station and local convenience store, crèche, offices and showroom retail uses. There could also be community facilities, a gym and a drive-through restaurant. This site is close to Junction 8 of the M53 on a visible priority site at the entrance to the town.

The scheme proposes new uses which will complement and give a boost to the ongoing developments of Rossfield Park and Pioneer Business Park, both of which are successful and image changing for this part of the town.

Louise Morrissey, director of land and planning at Peel, said: "Key to Peel's proposals is the aspiration to build up the prosperity and image of Ellesmere Port as a great place to live and work. Providing new commercial development, new local facilities and new jobs will help further promote and sustain regeneration and give a boost to the new sustainable community at Rossfield Park. Seeking planning consent for this development is an important next step in our regeneration efforts and we believe that this prominent and accessible site within the Rossfield Park strategic area is ideal for the development proposed."

House builder Wainhomes has developed residential units on plots at Rossfield Park next door to Peel's application site. Steve Toghill, managing director of Wainhomes, said: "We have beautiful new homes available for sale at Rossfield Park now. Rossfield Park is already a great residential location and we believe that these proposals will further enhance this key part of Ellesmere Port, we are pleased to be working with Peel at Rossfield Park."
