Pair of Knowsley schemes approved

Plans for a car dealership in Huyton and an industrial unit in Kirkby have been approved by Knowsley Council.

Hatfields Jaguar Land Rover’s 50,000 sq ft car dealership, which includes a showroom, offices and an MOT workshop will be constructed on the six-acre former Daf Trucks site off Coppice Lane.

The project will see the former HGV servicing workshop converted into a repair centre and car body shop.

The approval came just days before Jaguar Land Rover announced that 500 redundancies would be made at its nearby Halewood plant.

MDG Architects is the architect for the project.

There is existing planning permission for an Aldi supermarket on the same site, which was granted in January 2019.

That project, called Beacon 62, is a joint venture between Henry Boot, Barnfield and Knowsley Council.

The second development to receive approval at Knowsley planning committee was a 58,000 sq ft industrial unit off Acornfield Road in Kirkby.

The 5.6-acre site is part of Image Business Park.

The landowner, Seybourne Estates, has pre-let the unit to Spanish waste bin manufacturer Contenur for what will be the company’s first UK facility.
