Paddington Village plan gets green light
A draft regeneration framework to guide the development of the 30-acre first phase of Liverpool’s new Knowledge Quarter has been approved by the city council.
Liverpool City Council’s cabinet met on Friday to discuss the document and give it consent to go out to public consultation, which will start on Monday 7 November and will run to Friday 23 December.
Paddington Village is the flagship development in the Knowledge Quarter’s £1bn vision.
The site at the top of Brownlow Hill has been divided into three zones with the Knowledge Quarter plan: Paddington Central, Paddington South and Paddington North; which will be built out as part of “a longer term aspiration”.
The redevelopment of 10 plots at Paddington Central will form the first phase of Paddington Village.
Occupiers already secured for Paddington Central are the Royal College of Physicians for a Northern Centre of Excellence, and a facility for Liverpool International College made up of flats and lecture halls.
As part of the consultation, a public exhibition is due to take place at Kensington Fields Community Centre on Tuesday 22 November from 2pm to 7pm.
